Faina Goberstein is an accomplished knitwear designer and full-time math professor. She was born and raised in Russia and began to knit at age 8. She loved designing and math, and started out working as a design engineer at a large firm. Knitting was her escape from the high stress job.
Faina began self-publishing her designs in 2004 and since 2008 she has worked with both yarn companies and internationally recognized knitting magazines. Her designs can be found in Vogue Knitting, Interweave Knits, Knitscene, and various books. She has co-authored Casual, Elegant Knits: Classy Designs for Women and Men in 2008 and her second book will be released in the Spring of 2013 by Interweave Press.
